The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, with text and comments Swami Durgananda – book of November –
Here we are. One month away from the end of this year and the entrance to the beginning of the 3rd decade of this 21 century.
My hopes are that you have been able to accomplish many things you have set your mind and heart to. The biggest hope of all is that you are ready to up the game of your studies and yoga practice to the next level, the next plateau.
The book of the month is The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, book published by the Sivananda center. The commentaries and notes are written by Swami Durgananda and, as my Mentor, Sri Sivan Namboothiri, she is a disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda. Though I have never truly engaged in the classes she has often offered in Berlin I must say her presence in a room was always a steady and serious one. One could sense her dedication and devotion. Why now with the Sutras?
At some point in your practice there will be a stirring, an ignition to increase the experience of your training. Indeed the postures require a steady approach in order to have the benefits in health and wellbeing revealed. That is engaging the body. The Sutras assist you in engaging your mind in a way where the binding of the two, body and mind creates results that resonate throughout all aspects of your life.
My experience has been that dedication to your practice will create stirrings in your soul for more …more knowledge, more wisdom, and yes more love. The subtle centres of your whole beingness cannot help but expand to full potential. Take the book of the month as a supplement, a strong powerful supplement to ingest into your mind. Purchase the text, read it while you listen to the traditional chanting of its wisdom from strong devotees.
This month I will include a traditional chanting video and then a more melodic one for using in your asanas if you choose. The book offers complete explanation and insight. Invest the time, you will discover a new awakening and knowledge that lasts a lifetime. Sigh, where would we be without the true generous Sages?
…enjoy.
